ABOUT HER BECOMING ASTAR
Hi! I'm Yaa
In my upbringing, the belief was ingrained in me to follow a specific path: go to school, secure a good job, get married, and start a family. I followed these steps diligently, completing my undergraduate degree and pursuing a graduate degree in hopes of finding a successful career. However, my plans were derailed when I was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer, which required years of treatment and delayed my goals further. Tragedy struck again when my mother unexpectedly passed away, leaving me feeling lost and without my biggest supporter. Despite these setbacks, I relocated to Atlanta with renewed determination to achieve my goals, only to face another obstacle as the economy crashed, leading me to turn to unhealthy coping mechanisms like excessive drinking.
As I struggled with despair and hopelessness, I began to realize that the life I was leading was not truly mine but a projection of others' expectations. I experienced success in my career, financial stability, and seemingly perfect relationships, but it came at the cost of my mental and physical health, leading to panic attacks and sleepless nights. After a health scare prompted by stress-related issues, I came to the realization that I needed to prioritize my well-being and live authentically.
Through years of self-care practices and personal growth, I have learned to prioritize my mental and physical well-being. Today, I work with ambitious women who, like me, have felt overwhelmed and underappreciated, guiding them towards a healthier and more fulfilling lifestyle while still achieving success in their careers and businesses.
